Born Saturday, June 6, 1959, in Ocilla, Irwin, county Georgia to the late Mr. Timothy Smith Sr. and Mrs. Verlie Mae Lindsey Smith. Mr. Smith received God's call to his eternal home on Thursday January 15, 2026 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted friend: Ms. Lisa Wolfer of Alapaha Georgia. His children: Mr. Antwan and Mrs. Jalisa Smith of Willacoochee Georgia, Mrs. Verlita and Mr. Benjamin Reiss of Loganville Georgia and Mr. Xaveon and Mrs. Chika Wilson of Douglas Georgia.His mother: Mrs. Verlie Mae Smith of Alapaha Georgia.His siblings: Mr. Rudolph Smith, Mrs. Carlethia Nixon, Ms Rose Smith ,Ms. Wilhelmina Smith and Mrs. Edwinda Reeves all of Alapaha Georgia along with a host of Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebrations for Mayor Waymond Smith are planned for Saturday January 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Alapaha Elementary School Gym where his pastor Bishop Edward Jones will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the West Fletcher Cemetery, Highway 82 West, Alapaha Georgia. Mayor Smith will lie in state at the Alapaha Gym From 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
