Born May 14, 1941 In Irwin county, to the late Deacon William "Bud" J. Stepherson and the late mother Lila Clemons Stepherson. Uncle Bummer as he was affectionately known by many, was educated in the Irwin county school system. Willie accepted the lord as his personal savior at an early age as an active member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist church in Osierfield Georgia. Willie cultivated and developed his professional career in Danbury, Connecticut for many years as an employee of the Shepherd Warehouse Company. He also, maintained his spiritual relationship with God as a member of the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church until he relocated to Fitzgerald Georgia and recommitted to the Friendship Missionary Baptist church of Osierfield Georgia.

At an early age, she joined the New Bethel Baptist church, Lax Georgia, and later joined the Zion Hill baptist church of Birmingham Alabama, where she was a member for over 30 years. Etta served a lead singer in the adult choir, an usher, and a member of the matrons of Zion Hill Baptist church of Birmingham, Alabama.
